What is the cause of little to no hot water in the shower?

Considering the complexity of water heaters, there are many factors which could lead to no hot water. First you want to check the other faucets in the house. Do they have the same issue? This step will help narrow down the search. If all the fixtures in your home do not have hot water, make your way to the basement or location of the water heater. Check the bottom window compartment of the unit. There should be a flame toward the center of the heater if it is a standard conventional.
